The association "Shu Shin Dojo Genk" practises the budosports KoKoDo and Free Style Ju Jutsu.
KoKoDo Kyu Shin Kai means: School or Understanding the heart or KoKoDo Ju Jutsu. These Budosport was founded on 30 March 05 by 3 shihans (Shihans: Ivo Belmans, Erik Melotte and Etienne Beynaerts).
Aiming instructing and spreading the KoKoDo Ju Jutsu of Soke Yashuhiro Irie, where on regular base instructed in KoKoDo Honbu Dojo in Japan.
Free Style Ju Jutsu is founded by Sensei Kaiden Shihan Erik Melotte, he aimed the first club of this discipline in 1990 at Genk.
He developed his own kata’s those are based on KoKoDo Ju Jutsu and other self-defence techniques. Hence this form of Ju Jutsu.
Kokodo and Free Style Ju Jutsu are a Nippon Budo which strives body and develop spirit itself to be able defend in all circumstances. They are aiming coupling traditional Ju-Jutsu to values such as: RESPECT - FRIENDSHIP - HARMONIE.
In KoKoDo and Free Style Ju Jutsu purple is the highest belt, this belt stands for loyalty and honour to Japan.
The most remarkable in this art is that no strength is used, but works with inner energy (KI).
Important is resistance, character shaping and the physical development. In fact learning Ju-Jutsuka finds a balanse in daily living as an individual in relation with people, in full respect for everybody's individual character.
The basic education for KoKoDo and Free Style Ju Jutsu has been based on kata’s in the partitioning of Kyu-graden (yellow, orange, green, blue, brown, and dan-gradation (black belts) shodan, nidan, sandan, yondan. During this training the different degrees will be learned in all kinds of forms: sitting and standing kata’s, techniques with or without weapons (stick, knife, sword etc.¦)
This under the guidance of master Kaiden Shihan Erik Melotte 6th dan KoKoDo Ju Jutsu 6th dan Free Style Ju Jutsu.
